Come on, Wave Gods, PLEASE?

The bouy had ticked up a hair, so I was at Crossovers just before the sun was up. Arrrgh. Looked lame, so I went for a 30 mile bike ride. The report says the water is 74 degrees, so I thought it would be good to go down to the beach and soak the legs after the ride. As I stood on the walkover, I saw Valerie out on some hybrid-looking board actually catching a couple waves! The sun was shining, and the water was sparkling and green. I turned around and got the bodyboard out of the trunk of my car, and trundled on down. She let me try that funky board when I asked to look at it. It was a Walden pop-out, and looked sorta fun, but kinda like it wanted to be everything at once, a longboard (fat square nose), a fish (short and wide) and loose (three fins, the tail fin on the small side). Once I rode it, I knew why there can really be no such board that can do everything. It had no drive whatsoever, was stiff, and felt weird under my feet. Valerie on the other hand had decided she was having more fun on my bodyboard, and wanted to keep it for awhile. No wonder. I finally got it back, and we had some fun. She said I did a "sick spinner!" and I couldn't believe she actually stood up on that bodyboard. It was a regular Cirque De Solei freak show out there today.
