When I went outside this morning to the little shed where I do my laundry, I looked down and there was a black lizard. I thought it was dead. It wasn't moving, but I could see its glistening eye.
I touched it, and it was still pliable. I would have believed it was dead from the way it looked. I pushed its body into a patch of sunlight. Still nothing.
When I came back half an hour later, it was turning more brown, I could see the delicate patterns on its cold skin. When I touched it, it quivered for a sec. It looked up at me, and then slowly closed its eyes.
It was alive! I was so happy.
It was 26 degrees last time I checked. They had snow in Flagler Beach yesterday. If nothing else, this winter has set a fire under me. I have booked trips to Puerto Rico, New Zealand, and Nicaragua. There is no time like the present to begin a new page of your life. This decade will be more interesting than the last, not that the last one wasn't a bit of a nail biter.
I just want to pack in whatever I can, here in the afternoon of my life...
