Welcome to Labor Day Weekend ... Now Get to Work!

All hopes for a three day weekend of surfing and biking were dashed by goofy tropical systems that bumble their way around like blindfolded donkeys in an antique store. They just can't follow Bertha's class act and wind up way out in the Atlantic, sending us days of swell and good times. They just go DUH! and waddle right up the state, or so close to shore we have days of stupid wind that does no good for anyone or anything. The waves have been blown out for days. It was good for the bakery/cafe, because I could work EVERY SINGLE DAY. But, there are small blessings we must acknowledge. Today the boss said, eh, it's Labor Day, let's leave early. 2pm came, I jumped on the bike and rode home. Along the way, I noticed the wind didn't seem to be as bad as forecasts had predicted. The sun was out, and the wind wasn't bad, so I trundled on over to Crossovers. I could see there were waves as I was coming across the bridge. The ocean was full of whitewater. Driving along A1A, you could see the chunky groundswell lines - yippee! I paddled out, and right off the bat caught a good head high wave that rolled almost all the way to shore from way outside. FUN! I saw Tom and Steve, and we talked. It really wasn't that crowded at all. It was good to be out in something a little bigger. It reminded me a little of Popoyo, all bouncy and shifty, but after not having any size for so long ... it was fun. Now we are getting ready for days of hard onshores from Hannah. No biking or surfing for a long time to come. There, I said it. Bring it on.
