Goodbye summer...

This afternoon was probably the last time to paddle out without a wetsuit until May. The cold air is coming tonight, with temperatures forecast to be near freezing, inland, by morning. This said, I left work early to get what I could, as there was still a little swell left, and the winds were light out of the WNW for most of the day. After checking it this morning, I had to make the call to take off or save it for a better day since it was a flex day. The tide was too high and the wind sideshorey, not to mention it was chilly, so I decided to wait for the 2pm low tide in the mid-day warmth. It was pretty dang fun, and being in love with the new board made it even better. That thing is a wave magnet. I can't rest. It just wants every wave it sees. And, it can catch them. I had so many fun, little clean ones, even some barrels, that I was beat and ready to leave by the end when the wind started picking up and I got cold. It was so funny to watch some guy I was surfing near look over and see two longboarders paddle out with fullsuits on. He looked at them, started snickering, and got his friend's attention so he would look over at them. Hey, maybe it was the only wetsuit they had, and they sure weren't shivering like me. But, still, it was kinda funny, seeing as how I was out there without one. They probably did not want to see that. Goodbye, summer...
