Come to Mama...

Come on, keep that promise. Cold front do us right! Come on down and make a low, and send us surf for Wednesday. Please?

Okay, there were no waves today, the first day of freedom for those of us who are teachers of small children. GOSH DARN IT! Halfway to the ride, I realized I forgot my damn bike shoes. Sean was really cool, and said we would figure out what to do. This entailed turning around, which he did so very graciously, and we arrived 30 minutes late. We then "backtracked," a concept it took me awhile to understand being as how I got an instant headache and my brain shut down, realizing my error. But, it ended up being quite fun, going a different way. It felt adventurous being on the lookout for the Sundog group, and riding the route in reverse.

I saw an anchor fall off a huge boat on the road. A car nearly ran over it.

I learned a lot today. Take the problems as they come, breathe deep, and find the fun.

When we finally met up with them, the smiles on their faces were our great reward. They were so surprised, and couldn't believe we had appeared out of nowhere. Then we rode on, celebrated Ro's birthday at Al's, and sang the loudest birthday song ever twice, once to Ro, and once to the teenage girl who was celebrating her birthday with about twenty of her friends at the next table. Then we rode home in the most horrendous rainstorm ever, complete with hail the size of granola. It took us two hours to get back. What spooky fun it was, watching the lightning bolts, and pretending the hailstones were teenagers throwing rocks at the car.
