Best Christmas Party Ever

It's official. That was the most fun party ever! We were missing a few key players (Junior and Mattoid) who had prior obligations, but, overall, I never laughed as hard as when the paperball fight was at its zenith. I was begging everyone to stop. It really showed how having a big house can really make a party better, sad to say. I could never have fit all that into my little apartment.

The food was amazing... Brie's crack dip, Deb's famous artichoke dip, oriental salad (Thanks, Cindy!), vegetarian chili, Tofurkey and gravy, fingerling potatoes, carrots, mac n cheese, homemade bread, Sean's hot apple cider, wine, coconut pound cake, vegan red velvet cupcakes, and strawberries, pineapple, and bananas by the fire with vegan marshmallow creme and chocolate ganache. It was such joy sitting at King Arthur's long table by candlelight discussing dreams and things. It was so much fun taking Giovanni down the street by flashlight to peer over the fence, into the yard of Pee Wee Herman's twin. The oddities in that yard had us in hysterics, as Giovanni found "Dinosaur World," alligators, Elmo, and assorted other random characters. Colby provided background sound effects. We played Yankee Swap, where some things unwrapped included: a glitter skull, a box of chocolates, an oinking pig that doubled as a flashlight, a zombie baby made out of recycled plastic bags, a giant tin of hard candy, a plastic soap dish, assorted crap and whimsy, on and on. Brie's brilliant game of taking a gift and passing it around (each of us unwrapped it, a layer at a time), until we got to the cardboard only to find ANOTHER unwrapped present inside that, was a hit! After that, the wrapping paper became weapons for our twisted mirth, and since you can't look all around you at once like a lizard, you could see grimacing faces getting smashed everywhere you looked (Bruce and Bob win for best grimaces ever). Melissa made a surprise appearance, and ended up winning the endlessly wrapped gift conquest. We told scary stories around the fire pit outside (Andy built the best fire ever), and I must have made poor Ryan tell his about ten times. Colby tried in vain to conjure up some gas for our amusement, his buns getting toasted by the flames. How Giovanni laughed! We played Beatles Rock Band until past 1am, until we beat that freaking game! What an awesome night. Karen, you are amazing, in so many ways I can't list them all here...

The best Christmas gift is having friends and family like this.
